POSITION SUMMARY:

The Medical Technologist is responsible for the accurate and precise performance of all laboratory protocols in the assigned laboratory sections for all shifts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Ensures operation of analyzers, and other laboratory equipment by calibrating; completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
* Runs daily quality control checks and performs CAP Proficiency testing as required.
* Provides a healthy and safe working environment by maintaining cleanliness in the laboratory and practicing preventive measures.
* Performs routine laboratory testing as per departmental policies and procedures.
* Communicates critical, urgent, and abnormal results with ordering physicians.
* Communicates with nursing and physicians on patient preparation, sample collection and integrity.
* Prioritizes workload in an efficient productive manner.
* Promotes ethical practices & maintain patient confidentiality.
* Participates at the lab monthly focus group.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- BSc in Medical Laboratory Technology/ Medical Laboratory Science or Biomedical Science
- Current/Valid DHA License or Eligibility Letter

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of two (2) years’ experience post qualification in related field
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of laboratory and general computer applications is preferred.
