OPEX CONTROLS ENGINEER- MIDDLE EAST REGIONPOSITION SUMMARYURL blocked – click to applyControls Engineer providing support to ongoing plant operations, plant capital modification projects, new asset start up and stabilization, as well as asset management and productivity initiatives for the Middle East Operations Facilities. The position will report into the Operational Excellence Middle East team and will provide needed support across several Air Products Joint Venture operating plants as well as wholly owned Air Products facilities in the countries of KSA, Oman, Bahrain, Dubai, and Egypt. The role will be based in the Dharan Techno Valley office in KSA with business travel across the regionNature & ScopeAs a member of the Operational Excellence Middle East team, the Controls Engineer provides day to day technical and troubleshooting support to operating sites to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. The facilities range across multiple technologies such as Air Separation (ASU), Hydrogen and CO production (HYCO), Packaged Gases, Gasification, Syngas Purification and Helium.The position emphasizes teamwork, communications, change management and technical skills.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIESSafetyMaintain a safe work environment and proper documentation required for safety related activities.Ensure the safety of all operations personnel by utilizing the Air Products Basic Safety Practice program, which includes Safety Work Permits, LOTO, Confined Space, etc. The position provides technical support for executing, organizing, and auditing the safety systems, to build the Air Products safety culture into the Middle East regional assets.Implement and maintain compliance with all Critical Safety Circuits (CSS), Safety Integrity Levels (SIL), and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) implementation and revalidation programs.Technical and Operations:Provide engineering evaluation and technical guidance, for all aspects of industrial process controls systems and equipment including DCS and PLC’s.Maintain responsibility for the operating site’s Process Automation Systems programming and integration, operational changes and systems migration & back up.Provide engineering support & guidance during commissioning or modifications to existing assets. Maintain accurate document control and monitor quality assurance initiatives.Configuration in support of plant productivity or improvement projects, including configuration changes, specification of instruments, or provision of work packages for contractors.Develop detailed engineering specifications (including sizing calculations) for the procurement of Instrument & Controls systems components and equipment (such as control valves, flow meters, inline devices, transmitters, analyzer) in support of modifications to existing facilities.Provide technical support for MOC’s and technical input to Root Cause Analysis to identify & implement sustainable corrective actions.Support the development and utilization of the Process Intelligence Center (PIC) located in the Dharam Techno Valley offices, including controls support from the PIC center to the plant ensuring connectivity to address plant issues remotely. Work collaboratively with other operations experts in the PIC to troubleshoot and enhance plant reliability and productivity.Interface with the Advanced Controls and Process Engineers to define appropriate DCS interface requirements, and jointly design, implement and assess those interfaces. Support DCS/PLC external connectivity projects required as part of productivity improvement projectsProvide technical support for cyber security risk assessments and maintain local protective layers. Provide technical input to OT Cyber security assessments and Root Cause Analysis and identify & implement sustainable corrective actions. Become a local ICS Cyber knowledgeable resource, working with global Air Products experts to identify and resolve gaps and opportunities.Provide process controls technical support for plant turnarounds and restarts, as requested by the regional operating teams.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEEngineering graduate with >5 years of related process automation experience in industrial gases/ chemical / refinery and plant engineering.Experience with Allen Bradley, Honeywell and/or Siemens PCS7 Distributed Control systems (DCS), specifications, and configuration. Willingness to learn additional platforms required.Fundamental understanding of computer networks is desirable. Candidates should possess demonstrated troubleshooting and critical thinking skills, an ability to think logically and systematically.Demonstrated “hands-on” ability to configure, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair various plant process instrumentation.Knowledge & understanding of the principles of: Safety Integrity Level (SIL), Safety Instrumented System (SIS), Safety Instrumented Function (SIF), Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA)Able to communicate between management, operations, maintenance, customers.Proficiency in English speaking and writing, Arabic language skills is a plus.#J-18808-Ljbffr
